TrueCredit Review

By Kevin Mercadante

TrueCredit is part of TransUnion, one of the three major credit bureaus, and reports directly based on your TransUnion credit report. They provide you with regular access to your TransUnion Vantage Score. While this isn’t the FICO score commonly used by lenders, it will provide you with the ability to monitor major changes in your credit score. In addition, TrueCredit provides you with email updates reporting important credit changes from all three major bureaus, enabling you to take action if necessary. The service provides extensive benefits - for well below $20 per month.

Features and highlights

The credit report you will receive - and the credit score it produces - will come from your TransUnion Credit Report. This is important because TransUnion is one of the three major credit bureaus, along with Experian and Equifax.

Some of the features you’ll get with your TrueCredit subscription include:

TransUnion Credit Report and Score with Unlimited Updates: This will enable you to track your credit score and to know if it’s heading in the right direction, or if you need to take action to fix a few problems. Check it as often as you like - there’s no additional charge.

Email updates of critical changes to your credit for all 3 bureaus : Though TrueCredit provides access to your credit report and scores only from TransUnion, the service will provide you with email alerts notifying you of significant changes to your reports with Equifax and Experian as well. The alerts can be sent via text to your mobile device.

Personalized debt analysis and credit trending: This tool lets you know where your credit scores are heading based on trends in your credit. This is an excellent feature to have if you’re looking to improve your score.

Ability to lock and unlock your TransUnion Credit Report: This will enable you to limit access to your TransUnion Credit Report to avoid improper access.

Unlimited toll-free access to ID theft specialists

Should you become an ID fraud victim, TrueCredit has trained personnel available to help you deal with it.

Up to $25,000 ID theft insurance: In the event that you do become a victim of identity theft, you will have ID theft insurance to help you recover.

For additional fee of $9.99 per month, you can get additional ID theft insurance coverage of up to $1 million.

Ease of Use

The site provides web pages and video testimonials that enhance the user experience. From there, you can move easily from screen to screen, quickly finding what ever you need.

Bottom Line

TrueCredit provides an incredible value at a reasonable price. Not only do you get your TransUnion credit score and access to your credit report, but you also get credit alerts of important changes to your credit from all three major credit bureaus. When you add all the other features to the mix - particularly the identity fraud assistance - $19.95 per month is a small price to pay.
