FreeScoreOnline Review

By Kevin Mercadante

Maintaining a good credit score is essential in today’s economy. A good (or better) score will allow you to obtain the best rates for mortgages, car loans, credit cards, and insurance premiums. In fact, did you know that your credit score could even be a determining factor in whether or not you get that new job or promotion? Having a score rated as good saves money. This is where FreeScoreOnline.com comes in. They offer you the ability to see your credit scores from all 3 bureaus along with daily monitoring, alerts, and as much as $1,000,000 in identity theft insurance.

Features & Highlights

The basic service offered through the Free Score Online site includes monitoring, protection, and additional services. For starters, you will receive unlimited access to the most recent 3 in 1 credit report and scores. Each of the three major credit bureaus will be monitored on a daily and continuous basis. You have the ability to create customized alerts for things like new accounts, inquiries, credit increases, interest changes, and much more. You will also be automatically alerted for any type of key negative information such as missed payments. Identity theft protection actually searches and monitors the internet and other records for questionable entries or matches. You will also receive up to $1,000,000 in identity theft protection.

Additional options with this service include even more protection. Be alerted whenever any registered sex offenders move into your neighborhood (and even has the option of showing the locations). The ID score utility assesses your personal chance of being an identity theft victim along with a credit report analysis and explanations. The ScoreCast credit simulator actually allows customers the ability to calculate how hypothetical changes can affect their credit score. This feature alone should be able to help improve things for many people.

Sign Up Process

There are basically three simple stages involved in this sign up process at FreeScoreOnline.com. These include complete, verify, and confirm. But really this just means that you enter in a bunch of your contact and personal information. Be sure to complete all the sections fully with correct information. There are no real surprises here; simply enter in your name and contact information like address, phone number, etc

You do also need to include your social security number. No worries, though, since the site uses state of the art digital security methods which include a number of firewalls and secure socket layer data encryption.

Pricing Concerns

As with anything, price is always a concern. Please make sure to read all of the terms and conditions and details of the offer which are presented to you at the last step in the process. Basically, once you enter in a credit or debit card number, you will be charged $1 to gain access to your 3 credit scores. You also receive a free 7-day trial to the credit monitoring service. If you wish to continue with this, do nothing and your credit card will be charged $29.95. This fee continues on a monthly basis unless you physically call the toll free number to cancel the service.

Customer Support

The contact us button at the bottom of every screen on the Free Score Online site is the main method of obtaining help and support. Interestingly enough, the main option appears to be an online form which leads to an email submission. The company will usually respond to inquiries through email within 24 to 48 hours. There is also a toll-free customer service number provided along with a number of helpful frequently asked questions and answers.

Ease Of Use

The site itself offers a very intuitive customer interface. The tabs across the top are clearly labeled and allow you to quickly perform any common tasks you wish. For example, there are links/tabs which lead to alerts (which can even be customized), My Reports, Credit and Identity, Neighborhood (to track registered sex offenders), and Learning Center. Everything leads exactly where you might think and there are no surprises.

Bottom Line

While the prices are a bit higher than average, you do still receive value for your money. The features are very nice and the user interface works incredibly well.
